Gardener's rain...
I spent most of yesterday in the garden: weeding, harvesting the last of the radishes and ONE lovely wee tomato, transplanting more basil cuttings, and yanking up plants that didn't survive the heat wave. It always amazes me how quickly weeds take hold once the heat breaks and a rain or two gets by... so I really had my work cut out for me! And since I had all day, I made a proper job of it, ensuring all the weeds were out "by the root", loosening the soil, raking in yet more composts (love my compost pile!!!) and then lightly watering this newly bare earth. After that, sowing new seeds for chard, radishes, beets, green onions and carrots was a pleasure! So I was a bit worried when a line of thunderstorms came across our area...would my newly planted seeds be swept away? But we were fortunate - and this morning, all is well. And wet!
