So my goal of blogging gratitude every day...was not met. A perfect storm of an actual hurricane (Sandy), sporadic power outages, extra work (which involved sleeping at the office!!), hurricane-related 3 and 4 hour commutes - once commutes were possible, bronchitis and babysitting threw me far off track. But while I did not blog, I did take time each day to reflect on what I was grateful for. Here is a short list:
A strong son who carries my heavy groceries up 3 flights without complaint
Wee nieces who rejoice in their discoveries in nature
Texts messages from my daughter
Pomegranates
The only restaurant open at 10pm in lower Manhattan post-Sandy (hot and sour soup - yum!)
A very understanding sweetie who rubbed my back thru night after night of coughing
A very understanding sweetie who bought me cough meds - LOL!
Home. Made. Butternut. Squash. Soup.
Lots of firewood stocked up - and lots of kindling brought down by the hurricane. Lots of logs seasoning for next year!
Wee niece who arrived safely from FL for a holiday visit
Southern wee nieces who text and email us ALL. THE. TIME.
Word search puzzles
Abraham Lincoln
Living in a nation of laws and ideals
Abundant healthy food from our garden, from our farmers, from the shops
Knowing what to do with a 50lb sack of turtle beans
And more....
What are you grateful for?
