Creating a Personal Sanctuary

I have had a very hectic and emotional two weeks, with the usual ups and downs of life magnified in their intensity. And so after my writing project (NBA Finals, anyone?) I plan to spend a little time creating a little sacntuary for myself - a place in my home that soothes my sensibilities and nourishes my soul.

While I very firmly believe one's home should be a haven, I also have to admit that I have let the havenly part slip away in my "busy"ness. And I should know better! So step 1 will be to spend some time over this weekend really LOOKING at my home, and where changes should be made...and step 1a will be to tackle my sadly neglected garden, because I know darn well how much joy I gain from a well-kept veg patch and a few pretty flowers!

What steps would you take?

  1. I have a special chain in my bedroom...next to it is a table with my devotion, reading material and paper and pen. It's not a BIG space, but it's my space. God bless! Cathy

  2. what a good question and it's been on my mind a lot too. I just finished remodeling our kitchen and the disarray that comes with that has me thinking similar thoughts. I do have a special space in a corner with my candles, prayer books and icons... and even that is a disorganized mess! I'm going to slowly weed out the "stuff" that just gets in the way.

I hope you've had some success finding your own little spot.
