Mother's Day Crafting with Children

I have always loved crafting: crayon and pencil sketching, knitting, sewing, painting (badly)....cutting, glueing, coloring... And when I had children, I encouraged crafting with a well supplied and accessible caddy of "raw materials": paper, colored paper, safety scissors, glue (stick and liquid), crayons, paints, clay, glitter...you name it! And now that my babies are grown, I get to play with the wee nieces!

For Mother's Day, I brought a selection of acrylic paints, an extra box of Avery "postcards" (which fod into lovely greeting cards if handled carefully), glue, beads, and scissors. to minimize messes, we put the paint pots onto paper plates and we use qtips for brushes (one brush per color is the idea). The girls painted for HOURS, very carefully deciding what to paint, how to make each card meaningful, experimenting with color mixes...it was great fun!! And we ended up with an avalanche of cards and pictures for mommy, grandma, grammy...and me!
